This weekend Kevin and I worked a few hours in the baby room, putting some things on the walls, but for the most part, Kevin and I only had a few things to do, and finally got to have some R and R. Thank goodness.
One thing we did was complete our Wishpot list. For those who may not know, Wishpot.com is a website where you can go and create all different types of wish lists that allows you to add items on your list from various stores and websites. It tracks all of your items and pertinent details and allows those who view your list to go straight to the store that is selling an item and easily take a look or purchase it. The site also makes it really easy to get your list to people via many avenues. And it's free.
Anyway, early on in the pregnancy we had a few family members ask us to let them know if we needed anything "big" or important for the baby, as they would like to help. Of course, at this time, we didn't have any lists made, but I made a mental note to seek out something similar to Wishpot, I knew it had to exist, and to slowly start researching items and getting a list in place to disseminate to select family members.
We decided that we would make our Wishpot list a compilation of "big" items or things we really really need or want---the important stuff we would really like to know we will have for the baby. There are about 15 items on the list and Kevin and I worked for a few months on this list. We made sure to do plenty of research on every item and choose items with great reviews, impeccable safety records, as well as durability, etc. All other things we will need for baby Wicker will be placed on our traditional registry.
Given that the holidays are coming up, and we have had some people express some interest in getting us "baby" things for Christmas, which is great with us, we thought it was fitting to make sure that at least certain family members had our top needs/want list before Christmas, as this may help them out. So we sent out an email attaching our Wishpot list this weekend. This was a big step! It symbolized such a level of "realness". Exciting!
We in no way expect anyone to buy anything for our baby unless it is truly placed on their heart to gift us and Baby Wicker. But for those who are so inclined, we thought this would take some of the guess work out of the equation. Sometimes having less guess work around the holidays is a welcome gift itself.
We are very thankful to have some sweet and gracious family members take an interest in blessing our sweet baby.
