So why did not one single person tell me or Kevin that babies have a tongue thrust reflex which renders them virtually incapable of keeping a pacifer in their mouth??? After we ever so rudely discovered this pesky reflex in Preston and took to the world wide web searching for an end in sight, we found out that is does not disappear in most babies until at least four month of age. So why all the pictures and TV shows with seemingly perfect little newborns holding in their own pacifers as they rest blissfully?? That's some false advertisement right there. Needless to say, we've been having binky wars for the past 3 and a half months with no end in sight. Kevin has been tempted on numerous occasions to strap it to his head with some home made contraption.
I promise to relay this odd hidden truth about babies to all my unsuspecting new-mom friends!
There is a toy we used that sort of helped. It made the pacifier easier to find and not so easy for Aiden to knock or spit out, although he still did that from time to time.

Hey! Thanks for the tip. We actually have a Wabanub new in the package. I never really understood what the point of the animal is, so I have never used it. So it helps with keeping it in their mouth?
DeleteYeah kind of. It's heavier so they can't spit it out as easily and it helps them find it in their crib easier. Preston will be able to put it back in easier when he's around 6-8 months too.
